Well this past week has been quite busy and, although I'm still awaiting my delivery of Stylecraft Special DK (maybe today, I tell myself every morning), these hands have not been idle! I didn't want to start anything on a large scale, for that will happen when the new yarn arrives, so instead a couple of little personalities jumped off my crochet hook just to keep me 'employed'.
Well, yes, employed probably is the correct word because I've had requests recently for more of these little fellas. Would you like to have a look? Same as I've done before but different colours - well we much have changes of colour mustn't we!
And as you can see I tried my hand at a pin-cushion too, which I'm quite pleased with; it'll serve it's purpose I expect!
Yesterday, being Sunday and a lovely morning weather wise, we took off on a drive to an area near Albany, Western Australia which has become another of our favourite spots: it's part of one of the popular walks for folks around here who enjoy taking in nature - called The Luke Penman Walk - after the Doctor by that name who did a lot of botanical studies in this locality during his lifetime but, sadly, died at a young age. It's such a beautiful spot to relax and unwind.
And of course, for me, the water views are sheer magic!
I did take some pics from the 'billboard' at the carpark entrance to this lovely area and I expect if you click on these they should enlarge and allow you to read the information, or part of it! I hope so!
Gosh, I do hope this hasn't bored you 'out of your brain' as they say!
Our younger daughter had her birthday on 1st May - May Day - and here are pics of just a little of her birthday 'stash,' and the Raspberry Chocolate Torte that has become a big favourite around our place - for special occasions only of course!!! Oh yeah?
I hope I haven't overloaded you with pics this time, and I do apologise if the taste buds are cranking up after feasting your eyes on that cake? Mine are because I haven't had lunch yet - but - lunch will wait a tad longer because - guess what - my lovely yarn has just been delivered - oh I love our parcel postie - so I'm off to open up those bags and spill all that lovely colour out all over the place. Then I'll take pics to show you next time!
Have a great week and happy crafting!

DeleteI've been dreaming about the yarn most of the night - how daft is that - can't wait to get working with it, and it's so soft and lovely it's difficult to believe it's acrylic!

Hello Joy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pin cushions really cute. I love the cats do you follow a pattern for them or are they from your clever head? I think a grey one would look just like my little blanket stealer!
Apologies for the dodgy grammar and spell trying to leave you this message on a touch screen I'm not brilliant with them!
Lovely photos the scenery is quite something round your way love the litter sign very interesting.
That chocolate raspberry cake looks delicious! Looks like your daughter had a lovely birthday.
xx
A real treat to hear from you again FB with your lovely comments, thank you!
DeleteI kinda made up the cat as I went and although it's changed a little bit with each one, it's still basically the same design and very simple, just working in the round and decreasing a little bit on the side edges as it progresses, to give it that little bit of 'slant'. The ears are a continuation of same (not stitched on) and tail is six dc for as long as you want it to be. (I work him from the bottom up starting with a 'magic circle') I hope you have a go at him - I'll be happy to answer any queries you may have).
I think you're doing very well with the touch screen FB - they're a bit tricky aren't they!!!
Wishing you and yours the very best. Joy xx
I'm going to give it a go will update you on my progress. Hope you have a lovely week xx
DeleteAll the best with it FB - look forward to hearing how it goes! xx
DeleteHi Joy, I have followed you here from Forgetsmenot Blue when I read a comment and thought it sounded like you might be from Australia, then to discover you are not too far from me. I live in Busselton. Hope you have survivied the recent storm. I am in Perth this week looking after my daughter's house and cat while she and her husband are in Bali. I know we had a lot of wind and rain at home so I am praying my little unit is safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteI love your cats and hope that I might make some. I read your instruction to FB but I am a real pattern follower. I taught myself to crochet when I retired and since my husband passed away it has really helped me fill in time. However I am not good following my head but give me a pattern and I am away.
I also was waiting for Stylecraft D/K wool to arrive from England. It arrived last week and the colours are magnificient. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet I think perhaps a rug. I have so many projects I woud like to make. I keep seeing new things on Facebook.
I have had problems trying to type on a touch screen. I couldn't get corrections made the comment section froze. I copied and pasted in a note program and have fixed it up. Now I ope to copy it back to your comment sections and post.
Nice to meet you.
Well Hello Jen - it's so nice to meet someone from my own neck of the woods - well - almost! I'm glad you persevered with your message - where there's a will there's a way!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I don't have an actual pattern for the cat but you may find something on the net - somewhere! Have you tried a magic circle? You'll find videos online for those and so much more, which is where I learned a year or so ago when I first began crochet.
I'm sorry to hear you lost your husband - huge changes for you - hope things are working out well for you.
We haven't really had much of a storm after all - a fair bit of rain and windy conditions now and then but thankfully that's all; thanks for asking.
I have begun another ripple blanket with my new supplies and am sooooo happy with the yarn - so soft and handles beautifully. It arrived here 13 working days after despatch so I'm happy with that. Like you, there are so many projects I want to get into ... ..... Anyway I will be posting a progress report on it soon.
Thank you so much for introducing yourself Jen and leaving your lovely message. Joy x
Hi Joy thanks for popping by and visiting over at The Faerie Factory. I thought I'd skip over to see you. What a lovely place to visit. The cats are adorable I really wish my crocheting was a little less eccentric. I look forward to seeing what you make with the yarn from the postie. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much Sarah, and welcome to my place - it's so good to have you here. I have been very busy with the new yarn and will be posting very soon - watch this space, as they say!
DeleteBy the way - I love your 'eccentric' crochet! Joy x
Lovely pics. I'm now a follower through Bloglovin. :-D
ReplyDeleteHey Rachel - so happy to have you following, thank you! Joy x
